I'm a long-time sufferer of OCD with a passion for writing fiction.
Writing has become more than something I simply enjoy. It's a place where I can take the noise in my head and turn it into characters, stories and something that actually means something.
Living with OCD has given me an understanding of how complicated the human mind can be. I know what it's like to question your own thoughts, doubt your memories and desperately search for certainty that never seems to arrive.
That's why I want to write characters who feel real.
I'm especially passionate about writing fiction that explores mental health without turning people into their diagnosis. My characters can struggle badly, make mistakes, laugh, travel, fall in love, get angry, embarrass themselves and keep moving forward.
OCD might be part of their story, but it isn't the whole story.
I want my writing to entertain people, make them laugh and occasionally hit them somewhere they weren't expecting.
And if somebody living with OCD reads one of my stories and thinks, Bloody hell, someone actually gets it, then I've written something worthwhile.
